Peter Orlovsky dead. Age 76

April 27th, 2010

Photographed some of the feral cats that live in old San Juan, Puerto Rico.
There's a huge population of them and they're fearless -those will be up
soon. Recently finished putting together my first collection of poems. 49
pages of long and short poems hand pressed in collaboration with KittyCat
Press. Considering a move to New York in the Fall or Winter if I can secure a
job and living situation.

My poems have been published in a split zine with Toronto based multimedia
artist Dimitri Karakostas. This first edition is being put out through
http://bloodoftheyoung.com and is a run of 10: five exist in Toronto, five in
Baltimore.

New updates, work, poems -I've added a link to a piece called Untitled
(collaboration with internet friends), this piece involves your participation so
if you have 5-10 minutes of free time and some markers you can collaborate
on this piece. The first 20 to complete the directions have their drawings
posted on the site. Thanks -L

Just a few days before Wham City's first international exhibition in Toronto. I'm
in the middle of designing the poster and t-shirt for the exhibition. Also, a
reminder to buy this next month's issue of Esopus. I've got a song on the
compilation entitled Unseen Silver, it's a brand new one.

RAT RACE

Reluctantly hurtling towards the future:

If you're familiar with the way iTunes handles the media you purchase,
how itunes veils the exact location of your files on your hard drive
behind an interface, and how even though you have an account and history
of purchases you're still forced to repurchase your files if they're
lost etc..and If you've been keeping up with the trend of corporations
collaborating on services ie. AT&T & iPhone, and the growing
interconnectivity (interdependency) of technology via the iphone etc..
then it's not so difficult to imagine a future where issues are alot
more pressing than just "most people have iphones, some do not". The
western world is becoming increasingly intangible and regimented by how
a product or products share data. Ownership is diminishing at the same
rate that manufacturing quality is diminishing. I Imagine iPhone Apps
are quite useful, but I'll be churning butter out in the woods before
long.

Finished a track for the forthcoming Esopus magazine compilation (Fall 2009)
This issue's theme was Nostradamus and his quatrains. Each musician chose

a quatrain and wrote a song inspired by it. The song is called Unseen Silver,

and this is the quatrain I chose:

Le bon vieillart tout vif ensevely,

Pres du grand fleuve par faulse souspecon
Le nouveau vieulx de richesse ennobly,

Prins à chemin tout l'or de sa rancon.

The good old man buried quite alive,

Near the great river through false suspicion:

The new old man ennobled by riches,

Captured on the road all his gold for ransom.

Last night I wrote a stream of one line poems, and other things, I've posted
those to the recent writing section

June 3d, 2009

Posted a new poem and a couple of new haikus and short fragments in the
recent writing blog. Heading back to florida in the morning to hang with my
high school graduate brother. Congrats.

May 15th, 2009

I've updated the 35mm photo section with new photos.

May 10th, 2009

I made a new section under other work for recent writing, it contains new
haikus, prose, and single line poems. It's essentially my writing notebook on the
web and will be updated frequently with new work.

May 9th, 2009

Fixed an issue with the writing of new entries to the site.
I've got a new roll of film to develop and I've been doing
some writing as well that may eventually end up having it's
own section (with the haikus etc.) It'll probably work
something like this blog with a new poem posted as its
finished. For now here's a newish one.

Gene Hackman

I am dreaming I'm an actor
Using descriptors from the real world
to mask with what my teeth
and tongue
know to be total tripe,
the hunter gatherer truth
of not quite putting(laying)
my finger on just your
lips-like-a-sexualized-life-preserver
body of an old street lamp
fancy
hard and electric
(weathered subtly and in a nice way)
and hair long like a spanish mare's
and long, so long
I want to fit it all in my mouth
or kiss the usual way
by multiplying my weight
by a thousand and just
staring

You're standing at a counter
buying bottled water
Serene as the picture on the bottle
some non-existant river
with cartoon mountains
The picture on mine is just so
debaucherous
This was supposed to be a nice trip
to made up rivers
and movie set mountains
but you're sprawled out naked on mine
whistling (what is this?)
I must've grabbed Dasani
not looking
When I was reaching for
"Spring Creek Whatever" brand
Harmless and cheap
and brushed against your hip
with so many snakes in my stomach
my body a temple of doom
Since when do I consort
with the Arch of the Covenant?
I am Doubtfire
Tootsie
Gene Hackman dressed as a woman
